Matt Beleskey appeared in his fifth NHL season, notching eight goals, five assists and 13 points with a +2 rating and 56 penalty minutes in 42 games. Among Anaheim leaders, Beleskey led the club in hits (103), ranked second in PIM (56) and tied for seventh in goals.
BELESKEY VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS
Also known for his fists, Beleskey led the Ducks in fighting majors during the 2012-13 season. He dropped the gloves six times, including twice in the club’s home opener against Vancouver.
Beleskey appeared in his second career Stanley Cup Playoffs, delivering a team-high 26 hits in Anaheim’s seven-game series against Detroit. Beleskey finished the series with two goals, three points and a +1 rating.
With the Ducks in Detroit for Game 4 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals on May 6, Beleskey’s tenacious forecheck paid off as he reeled off three rapid-fire shots on goalie Jimmy Howard, burying the last attempt to give the Ducks a 1-0 lead early in the game.
By the Numbers
103, the number of hits he delivered in 42 regular season games, tops on the Ducks.
Beleskey has established himself as one of Anaheim’s most physical – and versatile – forwards, one who can fight when needed and provide timely scoring on any line. The former fourth-round pick (112th overall) of the 2006 NHL Draft will likely play a key role in the success of the Ducks in the upcoming season.
