Ducks forward Corey Perry
has been suspended for four games, without pay, for elbowing Philadelphia Flyers forward Claude Giroux during the third period of Anaheim's 5-4 shootout loss to the Flyers Friday night at Honda Center, the National Hockey League announced.
"I didn’t know what to expect, but that’s what they came down with," Perry said. "I didn’t mean to hurt him, but I have to live with it. It’s a tough situation and I know they’re trying to crack down on that kind of thing. So, I guess they gave me what I deserve."
Perry will miss Anaheim's game against Phoenix Jan. 4, the home-and-home series against Los Angeles Jan. 6 and 8, and versus Tampa Bay on Jan. 9. He will be eligible to return Jan. 11 against New Jersey.
