Ducks forward Corey Perry was one of nine players on Team Canada to score a goal on Friday in a 12-1 trouncing of Norway in the first game of the qualification round for both clubs at the IIHF World Championships in Germany.
After Norway got on the scoreboard first with a goal just 1:35 into regulation, it was all Canada, who scored 12 unanswered (including seven in the second period alone) to close out the game.
New York Islanders rookie John Tavares had a hat trick in the game and Atlanta rookie Evander Kade potted two of his own. Along with goal, Perry also added an assist to bring his tournament point total to six (two goals, four assists).
The blowout win proved Canada has quickly moved on from a 4-1 upset loss to Switzerland two days ago. The Canadians (3-1) next play on Sunday, when they will take on Sweden.
