Ducks forwards Dustin Penner
and Andrew Cogliano
will host a shopping spree for 10 local youth at Toys “R” Us in Tustin this Thursday, Dec. 12 (tomorrow) at 2:30 p.m. The beneficiaries of the shopping spree are students currently enrolled in programs at the Santa Ana-based nonprofit organization, The Wooden Floor. In celebration of the holiday season, Penner and Cogliano will treat children from low-income families to gifts that otherwise would not have been possible.
Toys “R” Us is located in the Tustin Marketplace at 2882 El Camino Real, Tustin 92782. In addition to Thursday’s shopping spree, the Lady Ducks (wives & significant others of Ducks players, coaches, executives and broadcasters) will host 10 female students from The Wooden Floor next Tuesday, Dec. 17 for a similar shopping spree. For additional details and to R.S.V.P. to either event, please contact the Anaheim Ducks communications office.
ABOUT THE WOODEN FLOOR
Created in 1983, The Wooden Floor is a nonprofit organization that annually gives 375 underserved local youth the tools to live fuller, healthier lives through a unique approach grounded in dance. The Wooden Floor makes a long-term investment in each of these young people. They engage in intensive dance education supported by academic and family services that change the way they make decisions, helping them to discover and pursue their potential.
Since 2005, 100 percent of The Wooden Floor young artists graduate from high school on time and go on to pursue higher education. This is about three times the national average for their socio-economic peers.
