Murray Comments on Moves

by Staff Writer / Anaheim Ducks
On the trade

We were trying to get a little bit of help up front down there. We’ve had guys in and out of the lineup. We had a chance to get a couple of wingers that we like. You have to give a little to get that. We went out and made the change.

On Maroon
We did our homework and went back to talk with the people where he played junior. We did some checking. In this business, he deserves a second chance and he is getting it. I’m sure the young man knows that. I fully expect him to keep on the straight and narrow here.

On Laliberte
Paul (Holmgren) really likes Laliberte. He’s giving him another chance. He was going to have a have a tough time playing in their organization. He played against us last year and played very well. He’s a good kid. This happens in our business where you get a guy who has been with an organization for three years and he doesn’t get a big enough chance. You say ‘I have to move him and give an opportunity’. We’ll see how he does.

On having eight defensemen now on the roster with Sutton activated

We’re healthy on defense and a couple of guys aren’t going to play tonight. I think that is very good in our situation right now. It’s proven you need defensemen because of injuries. We’re going to need players. I like our defense right now. I have no problem. Brookbank can play right wing too. You can carry a swing guy like that. Don’t ever forget about that.

On the bottom six forwards
We’re getting a look at some situations. We’re trying to find some combinations. It’s a process we have to go through here right now. I’d like to get healthy. We haven’t really been healthy here in so long. We’re trying some things out.
