Murchison Named Head Coach of USA Inline Under-18 National Team

by Staff Writer / Anaheim Ducks

The Anaheim Ducks, in conjunction with USA Roller Sports, announced today that Ken Murchison has been named head coach of the United States entry at the World Inline Hockey Championship, which will be played June 28 - July 4, 2009 in Varese, Italy. The United States Under-18 roster (below) features three players from Southern California.

“I’m excited and honored to be selected as coach of the United State junior team,” said Murchison. “I believe we’ve put together a very strong roster that has the potential to bring back a championship.”

As a player, Murchison played Canadian junior and collegiate hockey followed by stints as a professional in both the ECHL and the Anaheim Bullfrogs inline hockey team, who called Honda Center home. Since that time Murchison has been a key component in the growth of the sport throughout Southern California. He currently manages the inline facilities of the Anaheim Ducks’ Rinks Program, which seeks to grow participation in hockey through development of both inline and ice facilities.

“We’re thrilled with Ken’s selection and look forward to following the progress of the team,” said Ducks Executive VP and COO Tim Ryan. “By continuing to support both ice and inline hockey participation in Southern California, we are poised to both grow the sport and provide an environment that produces world-class players and coaches.”

The Anaheim Ducks officially launched The Rinks development program on February 13, 2009. Currently consisting of three facilities, the program includes locations in Huntington Beach (THE RINKS - Huntington Beach Inline), Corona (THE RINKS – Corona Inline) and Anaheim (THE RINKS - Anaheim ICE).

All three locations are now registering youth and adult players for their hockey programs. Registration and more information can be found at
