by Staff Writer / Anaheim Ducks
ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed defenseman Ruslan Saleito a one-year contract. Per club policy, no financial terms of the deal were disclosed.

Salei, 30 (11/2/74), has appeared in 516 career NHL games (all with Anaheim), posting 25-61=86 points with 621 penalty minutes (PIM). He ranks third on Anaheim’s all-time games played list and is the active leader.  Additionally, he has played more games than any other defensemen selected in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.

The 6-1, 213-pound defenseman spent the 2004-05 season with Ak Bars Kazan in the Russian Elite League.  In 35 games, Salei recorded 8-12=20 points with 36 PIM.  In the 2003-04 season, Salei scored 4-11=15 points in 82 games.  It marked the second time in his career he played in all 82 games.

The Minsk, Belarus native was originally drafted by Anaheim in the first round (9th overall) of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.
