ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with center Aaron Gavey.
Gavey, 31 (2/22/74), has appeared in 355 career NHL games with Toronto, Minnesota, Dallas, Calgary and Tampa Bay, posting 41-50=91 points with 270 PIM. Additionally, he has appeared in 19 career NHL playoff games, earning 1-2=3 points. The Sudbury, Ontario native played 60 games for Utah of the American Hockey League (AHL) last season, scoring 5-14=19 points with 58 penalty minutes (PIM).
The 6-2, 189-pound forward was originally drafted by Tampa Bay in the fourth round (74th overall) of the 1992 NHL Entry Draft. Gavey earned NHL career highs in goals, assists and points in 2000-2001 as a member of Minnesota’s inaugural team, earning 10-14=24 points in 75 games.
