ANAHEIM, Calif. - The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim have claimed left wing Chris Kunitz
on waivers from Atlanta.
Kunitz, 26 (9/26/79), was claimed by Atlanta on waivers on Oct. 4, after spending the entire 2005 training camp in Anaheim. With the Mighty Ducks in the preseason, he scored 3-1=4 points in five games. In two games with the Thrashers this regular season, Kunitz was scoreless with two penalty minutes (PIM).
Last season, he played 54 games for the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks (AHL), recording 22-17=39 points with 71 PIM and a plus/minus rating of +13. In 12 postseason contests, he scored 1-7=8 points with 20 PIM. Kunitz, a native of Regina, Sask., made his National Hockey League debut with Anaheim in 2003-04, playing 21 games and notching six assists with 12 PIM.
Kunitz signed with the Mighty Ducks as free agent on April 1, 2003 after scoring 175 points in 152 career games at Ferris State in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. He will report immediately to Portland (AHL), Anaheim's primary development affiliate.
