ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has assigned center Zenon Konopka to the Portland Pirates, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Konopka, 25 (1/2/81), missed 15 games (Jan. 19-Mar. 1) with a sprained ankle. He has scored 4-3=7 points in 23 appearances with Anaheim this season, making his NHL debut on Oct. 30 vs. Phoenix. The Niagara On The Lake, Ontario, native scored his first NHL goal on Nov. 6 vs. Minnesota.
He has played in 15 games with Portland this season, earning 7-10=17 points with 10 penalty minutes and a +6 rating.
The 6-1, 213-pound forward agreed to terms on a two-year contract with Anaheim on Sept. 1, 2004.
