On Monday, Koivu became the fifth Finnish-born player to reach the 1,000-game milestone. The previous four are: Teppo Numminen (1,372 GP), Teemu Selanne
(currently 1,329 GP), Jari Kurri (1,251 GP) and Olli Jokinen (currently 1,029 GP). In addition, Koivu was the 33rd European-born player to appear in 1,000 games.
Koivu has earned 236-534=770 points with 741 PIM and a +9 rating in 1,000 games with Montreal and Anaheim. He has scored 40-or-more points in 13 of his 16 NHL seasons.
