The Ducks announced today the overwhelming success of the second annual Kits for Kids Donation Drive. Ducks fans and supporters donated over 1,600 Wild Wingers Kids Club kits to patients at Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) during the holiday season. A majority of the kits were personally delivered by the entire Ducks roster during the team’s holiday visit to CHOC on Dec. 20, 2007.
“We’re so pleased with the response from the community to our donation drive,” said Ducks Director of Fan Development Matt Savant. “Seeing the faces of CHOC patients light up when they received their kits was priceless and we hope to build on this success for next year’s drive.”
Kids Club kits were purchased for $20. As a token of gratitude, those who donated two Kids Club kits received an autographed picture of a Ducks player. In addition, all donors who purchased five kits were automatically entered into a drawing to meet Ducks goaltender J.S. Giguere and left wing Chris Kunitz after the club’s contest versus Dallas tonight. Dan Tremblay of Fountain Valley was the lucky winner of this prize and will also receive game-used sticks from both Giguere and Kunitz. As a grand prize, those who donated 10-or-more kits were entered into a drawing to win a party suite for a Ducks game. Eric Zuercher of Irvine was the winner and has been given a party suite for the club’s contest versus the San Jose Sharks on March 28.
CHOC patients that received Wild Wingers Kids Club kits are enjoying a membership that includes many benefits. The kit contains one ticket voucher to a select 2007-08 Anaheim Ducks home game, a Kids Club t-shirt and hat, a Ducks jersey backpack, a Duck call and an official Kids Club calendar. In addition, every member received a Wild Wingers Kids Club ID Duck Tag, which provides discounts to Adventure City, Aquarium of the Pacific, Discovery Science Center, Newport Sports Museum, Hockey Giant and much more. The Kids Club will culminate the season by holding its annual End of the Year Party with a special appearance by Chris Kunitz.
