The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed right wing Andrew Gordon to a two-year contract.
Gordon, 25 (12/13/85), played in nine games with the Washington Capitals last season, scoring 1-1=2 points. He spent the rest of the season with the Hershey Bears, Washington’s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate. Gordon was selected to the 2011 AHL Eastern Conference All-Star team (scored two goals in the All-Star Game). He added 28-29=57 points with 24 penalty minutes in 50 games with Hershey last season.
A native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Gordon was drafted by Washington in the seventh round (197th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He won consecutive Calder Cup Championships with Hershey in 2008-09 and 2009-10, posting 20 points (13-7=20) in 17 games during the 2010 title run. The 6-0, 194-pound forward also played in one NHL game with the Capitals in 2008-09 and two contests with Washington in 2009-10.
