Getzlaf Out Indefinitely

by Staff Writer / Anaheim Ducks
Ryan Getzlaf had another CT scan today and visited with a specialist (maxillofacial surgeon). The CT scan showed that the nasal sinus fractures are non-displaced and stable. However, more evaluation of the bone breaks are needed over the next several days before a definitive expected absence can be determined. For the time being, Getzlaf is out indefinitely.

Getzlaf was struck by a shot off the stick of Coyotes forward Shane Doan 4:38 into the second period, which glanced off the stick of Ducks defenseman Cam Fowler and caught Getzlaf just under the helmet. The Ducks captain left the ice bleeding profusely and did not return to a game Anaheim eventually won 3-1. He received 12 to 15 stitches on the cut, according to Ducks coach Randy Carlyle.

The 25-year-old has played in all 40 games for the Ducks this season and is second on the team in scoring with 37 points (13 goals, 24 assists).
