The Ducks announced today that defenseman Cam Fowler will be out approximately 4-8 weeks (at the time of the injury) with a knee injury. In addition, defenseman Kevin Bieksa returned home for evaluation for a hand injury to his left hand. Bieksa will be re-examined on Monday (October 30) and a return timetable will be determined following that appointment.
Fowler was injured during the first period of Anaheim's 6-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on October 20 at Honda Center. The 25-year-old defenseman fell awkwardly into the boards and needed assistance getting off the ice. Fowler was (and still is) the club's leader in average time on ice per game (22:43), and had two points (1g/1a) in seven contests at the time of the injury.
Bieksa appeared to injure his left hand when he braced his fall during a fight with Flyers defenseman Radko Gudas in the first period of Anaheim's 6-2 win at Philadelphia on October 24. The 36-year-old defenseman had two points (both assists) in seven games at the time of the injury.
