Ducks prospect Emerson Etem (first round pick, 29th overall in 2010 draft) scored his 50th and 51st goals of the season tonight for Medicine Hat of the WHL (vs. Brandon). It was Etem's 50th game of the season (Medicine Hat has played 57). Etem's milestone 50th was the game-winner, snapping a 2-2 tie at 6:04 of the third period. He added an empty-netter with 47 seconds left for his 51st (4-2 final score).

A native of Long Beach, California, Etem is the first WHL player since the 1998-99 season to score 50 goals in his first 50 games-or-less. The Calgary Hitmen’s Pavel Brendl was the last to do it, scoring 50 goals in his first 43 games that season.

Etem leads the Canadian Hockey League (WHL, OHL, QMJHL) in goals, with no other player in the CHL currently with more than 45 (Zach O’Brien, Acadie-Bathurst of the QMJHL). Etem currently has an 18-game point streak, scoring 22 goals in that stretch (22-8=30). He also had an 11-game goal streak from Dec. 10 – Jan. 27, the WHL’s longest since the 2003-04 season.

Etem has 51-38=89 points with a +21 rating in his 50 games this season.
