On December 5, the Anaheim Ducks players spent the evening serving as “celebrity waiters” at the Ninth Annual Dux in Tux presented by Honda to provide fans with a night of quality service and fine dining in support of the Anaheim Ducks Foundation. The Ninth Annual Dux in Tux presented by Honda was held at The Balboa Bay Club & Resort in Newport Beach with more than 350 guests in attendance.
J.S. and Kristen Giguere and Todd and Caroline Marchant represented the Ducks as the spokespeople for the event. As part of the evening’s program, Todd Marchant gave the keynote address and discussed the Anaheim Ducks Foundation and the team’s commitment to the community. As a surprise to the team’s rookies, Brett Festerling and Bobby Ryan, Marchant called them up to the stage to tell the guests a little more about themselves so the fans could become better acquainted with the new Ducks players. Although both rookies were embarrassed to speak in front of the guests, each brought the crowd to a roaring laughter as they told entertaining anecdotes about their hometowns, playing in the American Hockey League and how they have reached the NHL.
The Ninth Annual Dux in Tux presented by Honda also honored 31 local nonprofit organizations as the recipients of the Ducks Care 2008 charitable grants and recognized them during the event’s VIP reception for their exemplary work in the community. More than $450,000 was granted through a process involving a Volunteer Committee comprising season ticket holders, Premium suite and seat holders, corporate partners and other Ducks community members. The Volunteer Committee served a critical role, reviewing grant applications and making recommendations for funding.
The evening featured silent and live auctions full of one-of-a-kind Ducks experiences such as a road trip (including seats on the Ducks team charter flight) for a game against the Colorado Avalanche, a private practice and meet-and-greet with the team, autographed memorabilia and auction baskets full of the players’ favorite things, which were designed by their wives and significant others. The evening also had an opportunity drawing with great Ducks prizes and ticket packages.

Proceeds from the Ninth Annual Dux in Tux presented by Honda support the Anaheim Ducks Foundation. The Anaheim Ducks Foundation serves as the team’s main charitable beneficiary. The Foundation will raise money through various activities throughout the season such as the Golf Classic, Meet the Team, Dux in Tux, as well as a variety of in-game fundraisers. Through the Foundation we look to help support exemplary nonprofit organizations within Southern California and to help make a positive impact in the local community.
