The Ducks have traded defenseman Nick Boynton to the Chicago Blackhawks for future considerations.
The 31-year-old Boynton had one goal, six assists and a plus-1 rating in 42 games this season, his first in Anaheim after being signed to a free agent contract in the offseason. He cleared waivers and was reassigned to the Manitoba Moose of the AHL on February 3.
He appeared in nine games with the Moose this season, earning 0-4=4 points with four penalty minutes (PIM).
A native of Nobleton, Ontario, Boynton has played 10 NHL seasons with Boston (2000-06), Phoenix (2006-08), Florida (2008-09) and Anaheim (2009-10). In 547 career NHL games, Boynton has recorded 33-102=135 points with a +16 rating and 810 PIM. In addition, Boynton appeared in 18 Stanley Cup Playoff contests with Boston from 2002-04, collecting 1-5=6 points with 14 PIM.
