Ducks to Unveil Third Jersey on November 26

by Staff Writer / Anaheim Ducks
The Ducks will unveil a new third jersey for the 2010-11 season on Friday, Nov. 26 vs. the Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks at Honda Center (1:05 p.m.). The new jersey will be unveiled by the players as they take the ice for the game (the traditional uniform will be worn during warmup). The new sweater will serve as the club’s fourth alternate jersey in franchise history. Following its debut on the day after Thanksgiving, the Ducks will sport the third jersey on 14 other occasions (15 in all).

“After introducing a new name, logo and colors to our fans four years ago, we felt it important to give our original look due time to establish itself in the market,” said Ducks Vice President of Sales and Marketing Bob Wagner. “At this point, we’re excited to introduce an additional look for the team in 2010-11, one we feel confident our fans will embrace.”

Since the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim became the Anaheim Ducks on June 22, 2006, the club has worn a jersey with a color palette of black and metallic gold with orange accents as a metaphorical link to Orange County. The primary logo emblazoned across the front of the jersey is a strong typographic mark anchored by a stylized “D” that echoes the image of a duck’s footprint. The third jersey will put an alternative spin on the traditional colors and logo, also paying homage to the club’s history.

The new alternate jersey will serve as the fourth in club history and first in more than seven years. The club sported a black with dark plum, silver and white alternate jersey beginning on September 29, 2003 that was worn for the 2003-04 and 2005-06 seasons. The Ducks also wore a teal and white sweater as their alternate sweater during the 1997-98 season. Anaheim’s original third jersey was worn beginning with the 1995-96 season and depicted a cartoon Duck posing as a hockey player breaking through a sheet of ice.

Individual game tickets for the third jersey debut on Nov. 26 vs. Chicago and the Ducks’ complete regular season schedule at Honda Center will go on sale later this summer. Season, Premium and Mini Plan deposits for the 2010-11 Anaheim Ducks regular season are available now. For more ticketing information, call 1-877-WILD WING or visit www.anaheimducks.com/tickets.
