Ducks to Host Development Camp Scrimmages July 4 & 6

by Staff Writer / Anaheim Ducks

The Ducks will host their annual prospect development camp scrimmages at THE RINKS – Anaheim ICE on Saturday, July 4 and Monday, July 6 at 10:30 a.m. (doors open at 10 a.m.). Fans and media are invited to attend the open scrimmage sessions with a $5 suggested donation benefiting the Anaheim Ducks Foundation. Anaheim’s top prospects will participate in both on-ice and off-ice workouts at Anaheim ICE throughout the development camp, running July 1-6 (only the two scrimmages are open to the public and will be subject to change).

Seven Anaheim selections from the 2015 NHL Draft are scheduled to attend, including Jacob Larsson (first round, 27th overall), Julius Nattinen (second round, 59th overall), Brent Gates Jr. (third round, 80th overall), Deven Sideroff (third round, 84th overall), Troy Terry (fifth round, 148th overall), Steven Ruggiero (sixth round, 178th overall) and Garrett Metcalf (sixth round, 179th overall). In addition, former first-round selections Nick Ritchie (10th overall, 2014), Shea Theodore (26th overall, 2013) and Stefan Noesen (21st overall, 2011) will participate, along with Marcus Pettersson (38th overall, 2014), Brandon Montour (55th overall, 2014) and Nicolas Kerdiles (36th overall, 2012). Seven countries are represented among the 36 players expected to attend the camp, including Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Finland, Sweden and the United States.

The six-day camp focuses on both the on-ice and off-ice development of the organization’s top young prospects. In addition to on-ice skating sessions, each player will participate in strength and conditioning drills that allow coaches and management to closely evaluate the progress of each athlete. Along with daily weight and aerobic training, each player will also receive a personally tailored nutritional recommendation and be tested for strength thresholds, range of movement and aerobic capacity.
