The Ducks announced the schedule for the “FOR8VER TEEMU” events leading up to “Teemu Tribute Night” on Jan. 11, 2015 vs. Winnipeg at Honda Center. The Ducks will honor Selanne on his legendary career in a pregame ceremony that will include the raising of Selanne’s #8 jersey to the rafters at Honda Center. Fans attending “Teemu Tribute Night” are encouraged to be in their seats by 4:15 p.m. All fans in attendance will receive a replica Selanne jersey retirement banner. FULL SCHEDULE
Fans who visit the Ducks Mobile App between 12:00 p.m. today (Dec. 10) and 11 p.m. on Dec. 18 will have the opportunity to be entered into a sweepstakes to receive a purchasing code for up to 2 tickets for “Teemu Tribute Night.” Fans can enter the sweepstakes using the official Ducks Mobile App for iPhone, iPad and Android by tapping “Teemu Tribute Night” in the app menu and filling out the form. Events for “FOR8VER TEEMU” will commence with a screening of the Finnish documentary (with English subtitles), “SEL8NNE” on Jan. 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Edwards Big Newport 6 theater (300 Newport Center Dr, Newport Beach, CA 92660) in Newport Beach. The screening will include a special Q&A session with Selanne. Tickets for the screening can be purchased online now at www.anaheimducks.com/teemumovienight. All proceeds will benefit the Anaheim Ducks Foundation and the Teemu Selanne Youth Sports Foundation. Additionally, the Anaheim Ducks Foundation will be selling movie tickets (section 212) at tonight’s home game vs. Edmonton, starting when doors open at 5:30 p.m. The first 10 VIP ticket purchases sold at the game will receive a Teemu Selanne autographed photo.
The festivities continue on Saturday, Jan. 10 at Samueli Theater in the Segerstrom Center for the Arts (615 Town Center Dr, Costa Mesa, CA 92626) with a display of trophies awarded to Selanne over his expansive hockey career (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.). Trophies will include the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy, Calder Memorial Trophy, Bill Masterton Trophy, Clarence Campbell Bowl and the most famous trophy in sports, the Stanley Cup. Other historical Selanne artifacts from his NHL, Olympic, International and All-Star career will also be on display for fans to see. This event is open to the public and fans are invited to view the one-of-a-kind trophies and artifacts as well as have the opportunity to take a picture with the Stanley Cup with a suggested donation of $5 to the Anaheim Ducks Foundation.
The day after Selanne’s jersey retirement (Monday, Jan. 12), Selanne’s #8 jersey banner will be lowered from the rafters for public viewing and photo opportunities for a suggested donation of $5 to the Anaheim Ducks Foundation (at Honda Center, time TBD).
Commemorative “FOR8VER TEEMU” merchandise (apparel, headwear, novelties, collectibles, etc.) marking Selanne's retirement will be available for purchase starting Thursday, Jan. 8, with new merchandise released daily until Sunday, Jan. 11 at the Anaheim Ducks Team Store. A limited selection of game worn and collectible jerseys unique to the event will be available for purchase. Fans that purchase collectible jerseys will also have the chance to win a Selanne-themed grand prize. Tickets will be randomly inserted within these collectible jerseys that include chances to win an unforgettable experience like a meet and greet with Teemu. Additionally, a one-of-a-kind commemorative book, “Selanne: A Tribute to a Legend,” will be available for purchase in the Team Store starting Thursday, Jan. 8.
