Ducks to Honor Armed Forces At Military Appreciation Night Presented by Govx Sunday at Honda Center

by Staff Writer / Anaheim Ducks

The Ducks will honor the United States Armed Forces by hosting Military Appreciation Night presented by GovX this Sunday, Nov. 9 at Honda Center when the Ducks face the Vancouver Canucks (6:00 p.m.). This special game night will pay tribute to local military and their family members as well as raise awareness for local military nonprofit organizations, Defending the Blue Line and Veterans First.

Anaheim Ducks players will be wearing camouflage jerseys during the pre-game warm-up for Military Appreciation Night. Following the game, the jerseys will be autographed and made available in an online auction at AnaheimDucks.com/auction. The night will begin with three members of the United States Marine Corps (USMC) rappelling from the rafters with Wild Wing for the honorary first puck drop. The action continues into the second intermission with an on ice four way Tug-O-War between all four military branches (USMC, Army, Navy, and USAF).

In a pre-game ceremony, the Ducks will honor Staff Sergeant Kris Quinones, a Community Hero. Quinones has served our country for over 10 years and has been on multiple deployments such as Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as keeping the homeland safe on state active duty missions with the California National Guard Civil Support Team. A highly decorated member of our armed forces, Staff Sergeant Kris Quinones has received such awards as the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Afghanistan and Iraq Campaign Medals, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge.

As part of Military Appreciation Night events, non-perishable food items will be collected for Veterans First, an Orange County-based organization that provides services exclusively to our region’s homeless and at-risk veterans. Fans are encouraged to bring canned and non-perishable food items to the Ducks in the Community booth located in the Hockey Spot (south side of the building in front of The Grand Terrace) starting at 3:30 p.m.

Tickets for Military Appreciation Night are still available and can be purchased through AnaheimDucks.com, Ticketmaster or at the Honda Center Box Office. Fans will incur no additional fees when purchasing tickets direct from the Anaheim Ducks (via any of the aforementioned avenues). In addition, fans will continue to receive free TicketFast delivery (ability to print tickets at home). For more information on Season, Premium and Mini Plan ticket packages, call 1-877-WILD WING or visit AnaheimDucks.com.

PARTICIPATING NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS:

Defending the Blue Line
Defending The Blue Line is ensuring that children of military members are afforded every opportunity to participate in the game of hockey. We accomplish this by providing free equipment for military kids, hockey camps, special events, and financial assistance for registration fees and other costs associated with hockey.

Veterans First
For over forty years, our goal at Veterans First has been to honor every brave man or woman who has served this country by helping to restore dignity to those whose sacrifices defending the freedoms we cherish have left them in need. Every person who raises their hand and takes a pledge to defend our country is a hero. Until there are no American heroes sleeping in the streets, in cars or in alleyways, we will be there for them just as they were there for all of us.
