The Ducks will hold a “San Diego HockeyFest” at Valley View Casino Center from noon – 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 22 to celebrate the return of professional hockey to San Diego. Earlier today, the Ducks announced the purchase and relocation of their American Hockey League (AHL) club from Norfolk, Va., to San Diego, Calif. The club will play home games at Valley View Casino Center beginning this fall at the start of 2015-16 AHL regular season.
The free event will include the official unveiling of the AHL club’s name and logo, along with a full “Hockey Spot” experience that takes place prior to Ducks Sunday home games at Honda Center. The “Hockey Spot” includes street hockey, a Ducks Jump Castle (bounce house), a photo booth, and the Hardest Shot Challenge. HockeyFest will also feature guest appearances and autograph sessions by local hockey legends, appearances by the Ducks Street Team and Power Players, live music from San Diego-based bands, hot dogs and soda, and a t-shirt (first 1,000 fans) with the club’s name and logo (all complimentary). Additional food and drinks will be available for purchase.
Fans who sign up for full season ticket plans will also have the opportunity to view and select their seats at the event. Priority will be given to fans based on the order of deposits made through the club’s website (below). Merchandise stands featuring items for purchase with the club’s name and logo will also be open.
The Ducks’ top farm team will join affiliates from the Los Angeles Kings (Ontario, Calif.), San Jose Sharks (San Jose, Calif.), Calgary Flames (Stockton, Calif.) and Edmonton Oilers (Bakersfield, Calif.) in the newly created AHL Pacific Division, as announced by the AHL this afternoon.
