The first game of the series went to five overtimes and remains the fourth-longest game in NHL history (140:48). The clubs also met in the 2008 Conference Quarterfinals, when the fifth-seeded Stars beat the fourth-seeded Ducks in six games. (Complete playoff recaps are below).

Anaheim has a 39-60-11 all-time record against Dallas, 25-26-4 at home. In the 2013-14 regular season, Anaheim posted a 1-2-0 record vs. Dallas, including a 6-3 victory on Oct. 20 at Honda Center. The Stars won on Nov. 26 at American Airlines Center (6-3) and Feb. 1 at Honda Center (2-0). Ryan Getzlaf paced all Anaheim skaters in scoring (1-4=5) and assists vs. Dallas during the season series, while Corey Perry (2-2=4) and Emerson Etem (2-1=3) co-led the team in goals. Ryan Garbutt was Dallas’ leading scorer vs. Anaheim this season (2-2=4). Garbutt and Antoine Roussel (2-0=2) co-led the team in goals (2) while Erik Cole (0-3=3) and Vernon Fiddler (0-3=3) co-led the team in assists (complete game-by-game recap below).
