The Ducks have signed defenseman Robert Hagg to a one-year contract through the 2023-24 NHL season.

Hagg, 28 (2/8/95), has collected 16-47=63 points with 284 penalty minutes (PIM) in 338 career games with Detroit (2022-23), Florida (2021-22), Buffalo (2021-22) and Philadelphia (2016-21). He has also appeared in 14 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, recording three assists with a +2 rating. Hagg led all NHL defensemen and ranked eighth among NHL leaders in hits in 2018-19 (258). In 2017-18, he was fourth among NHL blueliners in hits with 238. In his four seasons with the Flyers, he led the team in hits (736) and ranked sixth in blocked shots (371), while he led Philadelphia in hits in both 2017-18 and 2018-19, and blocked shots in 2018-19 (158).

The 6-2, 210-pound blueliner appeared in 38 games with Detroit in 2022-23, recording 2-5=7 points with 26 PIM while ranking third among Red Wings defensemen in hits (111). He skated in all 82 games with Philadelphia during the 2018-19 season, setting career highs in points (5-15=20), goals, assists, PIM (63), blocked shots and hits. As a rookie in 2017-18, Hagg led all rookies in blocked shots (100) and ranked seventh among NHL leaders in hits (238).

Originally selected by Philadelphia in the second round (41st overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft, he appeared in 202 career American Hockey League (AHL) contests with the Flyers' primary development affiliates in Lehigh Valley and Adirondack, earning 16-34=50 points and 142 PIM. He also collected 1-6=7 points with 49 PIM in 77 career Swedish Hockey League (SHL) contests with Modo. Additionally, he served as captain of Modo's junior team in 2012-13, posting 11-13=24 points in 28 games while being named the league's best defenseman.

The Uppsala, Sweden native represented Sweden at the 2019 World Championship and three straight World Junior Championships (2013-15), winning a silver medal at both the 2014 and 2015 tournaments. He also represented his country at the 2013 Ivan Hlinka Memorial (bronze medal) and the World U-17 Hockey Championship.
