by Staff Writer / Anaheim Ducks

The Ducks have signed defenseman Nate Guenin to a one-year contract. Per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Guenin, 33 (12/10/82), has scored 5-23=28 points with 94 penalty minutes (PIM) in 205 career NHL games with Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Columbus, Anaheim and Colorado. The Aliquippa, PA native set NHL career highs in games played (76), points (15), goals (2) and assists (13) during the 2014-15 season with Colorado (he played in 29 NHL games with the Avalanche last year). He signed with Colorado as a free agent on July 5, 2013.

Guenin was originally acquired by Anaheim from Columbus in exchange for Trevor Smith on Jan. 4, 2011. He scored two goals with a +6 rating in 15 games with Anaheim in 2011-12.

Selected by the New York Rangers in the fourth round (127th overall) of the 2002 NHL Draft, Guenin spent the last three seasons with the Colorado Avalanche, scoring 3-21=24 points in 173 games. The 6-3, 207-pound defenseman was on the United States Hockey League (USHL) All-Rookie Team in 2001 and the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) Second All-Star Team in 2005.
