The Ducks have signed goaltender Igor Bobkov
to a one-year contract through the 2014-15 NHL season. Per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Bobkov, 23 (1/2/91), went 17-8-4 with two shutouts, a 2.04 goals-against average (GAA) and .921 save percentage (SV%) in 29 games with Utah (ECHL) last season. Bobkov ranked second among ECHL goaltenders in GAA and tied for fifth in SV%, while also winning ECHL Goaltender of the Month honors for February and March. In 10 American Hockey League (AHL) appearances with Norfolk, the 6-5, 235-pound goaltender posted a 5-3-1 record with a 2.43 GAA and .919 SV%.
Selected by Anaheim in the third round (76th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Bobkov owns a 20-21-2 record with a 2.95 GAA and .908 SV% in 44 career AHL games with Norfolk. In 2012-13, the Surgut, Russia native ranked second among AHL goaltenders in shootout SV% (.864) and also finished second on Norfolk in wins, GAA and SV%. He helped lead Russia to gold at the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship by stopping all 20 shots in relief en route a 5-3 win over Canada. For his efforts, Bobkov was named Russia's Player of the Game in the decisive medal win.
