Ducks Rookies Face Sharks in Vegas

The Ducks will play a Rookie Game versus the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Anaheim-San Jose Rookie Game highlights the Ducks’ six-day Rookie Camp.

Featured players on Anaheim’s rookie roster include seven of 10 selections from the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, including centers Nicolas Deschamps (second round, 35th overall) and Eric O’Dell (second round, 39th overall), defenseman Justin Schultz (second round, 43rd overall), left wing Josh Brittain (third round, 71st overall), goaltender Marco Cousineau (third round, 83rd overall), center Brandon McMillan (third round, 85th overall), and defenseman Stefan Warg (fifth round, 143rd overall). The roster also features 2007 first-round selection Logan MacMillan (19th overall) along with fellow 2007 draft class members Eric Tangradi (second round, 42nd overall) and Maxime Macenauer (third round, 63rd overall).

Deschamps was selected to the 2007-08 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) All-Rookie Team and named the league’s Best Defensive Player last season. Among British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) Interior Conference defensemen, Schultz finished second in scoring with 9-31=40 points and was named the conference’s Top Defenseman in 2008. O’Dell led Sudbury rookies in scoring with 14-18=32 points last year in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) while Cousineau was named to the QMJHL Second-Team All-Star squad. As members of Team Canada, Deschamps, O’Dell, Brittain and McMillan won gold at the 2008 IIHF Under-18 World Championships in Russia. In addition, Tangradi helped lead the Belleville Bulls to the Rogers OHL Championship Series and an appearance in the MasterCard Memorial Cup in 2008.
