The Ducks finish off their second half of back-to-backs as they host the visiting LA Kings tonight at Honda Center (5 p.m. PT, TV: Prime Ticket, Radio: AM 830). Tonight marks Anaheim's fourth of seven preseason contests and the second - and final matchup - against the rival Kings.
Despite being held without a win, Anaheim (0-2-1) played arguably its best game last night in a 3-2 overtime loss at Arizona. Michael Sgarbossa (goal and an assist) and Nick Sorensen scored for the Ducks, while John Gibson (16-of-17) and Jonathan Bernier (11-of-13) were sharp in their preseason debuts.
This is a split-squad game for the Kings (2-2-0), who are also taking on the Edmonton Oilers in Lumby, British Columbia as part of Kraft Hockeyville 2016.
Veteran defenseman Tom Gilbert leads the Kings in scoring with four points (all assists) in three games, two of which came in LA's 6-1 victory over Anaheim at Staples Center on Wednesday. Goaltenders Jack Campbell (1-0-0) and Peter Budaj (1-1-0) have earned the victories for LA.
Following tonight's game, the Ducks will travel to Edmonton (Tuesday, Oct. 4) and San Jose (Wednesday, Oct. 5) before closing out the preseason at home against the Sharks on Sunday, Oct. 9.
Anaheim opens its 2016-17 regular season with a five-game road trip that begins on Thursday, Oct. 13 at Dallas.
