by Staff Writer / Anaheim Ducks

The Ducks have recalled defenseman Shea Theodore from the San Diego Gulls, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

In addition, Nate Thompson has returned to Anaheim from his conditioning loan (San Diego). He remains on IR.

Theodore, 20 (8/3/95), was recalled Nov. 17 from San Diego but did not make an appearance with Anaheim. Theodore has earned 2-9=11 points with a +1 rating and eight penalty minutes (PIM) in 19 games with San Diego this season. Among team leaders, the 6-2, 195-pound blueliner ranks third on the club in assists.

Selected by Anaheim in the first round (26th overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft, Theodore was named the Western Hockey League’s (WHL) Defenseman of the Year in 2014-15. He concluded his WHL career as Seattle’s all-time leader in goals (58) and points (212) by a defenseman. Theodore also won gold with Team Canada at the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship in Toronto and Montreal, scoring 1-1=2 points with a +12 rating in seven tournament games.
