A native of White Bear Lake, MN, Carter has played in 13 games for Portland this year, scoring 3-2=5 points with a +3 rating and 38 penalty minutes (PIM). In his last game with the Pirates, Carter scored the lone goal to lead his team to a 1-0 victory over Springfield on Dec. 16 in Portland.

Signed as a free agent on July 12, 2006, Carter made his professional debut with Portland during the 2006-07 regular season. He earned 16-20=36 points with 85 PIM in 76 games with the Pirates, finishing tied for third on the team in goals and tied for fourth in assists and scoring. In addition, Carter appeared in four games with the Ducks during the 2007 Stanley Cup Playoffs, including Game Four of the Stanley Cup Final against Ottawa.
