The Ducks have recalled defenseman Nate Guenin
from the Norfolk Admirals, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Guenin, 30 (12/10/82), scored 2-10=12 points with a +5 rating and 20 penalty minutes (PIM) in 41 games for Norfolk this season. Among Admirals defensemen, Guenin ranked second in scoring and assists, and ranked tied for third overall in appearances and tied for second in plus/minus.
Acquired from Columbus in exchange for Trevor Smith on Jan. 4, 2011, Guenin appeared in 15 contests with Anaheim during the 2011-12 regular season, scoring 2-0=2 points with six PIM. He scored his first career NHL goal on Oct. 7, 2011 against Buffalo in Helsinki, Finland and tallied his first career game-winner on Mar. 19 at San Jose. The 6-3, 207-pound defenseman also finished with a career-high +6 rating, which ranked fourth overall on the team.
Originally selected by the New York Rangers in the fourth round (127th overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Guenin has appeared in 32 career NHL games with Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Columbus and Anaheim, scoring 2-2=4 points with 14 PIM. In 416 career AHL games, Guenin has collected 16-79=95 points with a +27 rating and 532 PIM.
