The Ducks have reassigned defenseman Shea Theodore
to the San Diego Gulls, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Theodore, 20 (8/3/95), was recalled yesterday from San Diego but did not make an appearance in Anaheim’s game in Nashville. Theodore has earned 1-7=8 points with a +4 rating and eight penalty minutes (PIM) in 13 games with San Diego this season. He returns to San Diego ranked tied for fifth among AHL rookie defensemen in scoring and tied for fourth in assists. Among team leaders, the 6-2, 195-pound blueliner is third in assists and tied for fifth in scoring. Theodore has appeared in 26 career AHL games with San Diego and Norfolk, scoring 5-14=19 points with 10 PIM.
Selected by Anaheim in the first round (26th overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft, Theodore was named the Western Hockey League’s (WHL) Defenseman of the Year in 2014-15. He concluded his WHL career as Seattle’s all-time leader in goals (58) and points (212) by a defenseman. Theodore also won gold with Team Canada at the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship in Toronto and Montreal, scoring 1-1=2 points with a +12 rating in seven tournament games.
