The Ducks have assigned center Nick Bonino to the Syracuse Crunch, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Bonino, 22 (4/20/88), has appeared in 26 games for Anaheim this season, going scoreless with four penalty minutes. He was recalled from Syracuse on two occasions this season (Nov. 1 and Nov. 24). With the Crunch, he appeared in eight games, collecting 2-7=9 points with 10 PIM. When he was initially recalled from Syracuse on Nov. 1, Bonino led all AHL rookies in assists and ranked tied for second in scoring. The Hartford, CT native recorded points in a season-high six consecutive games (2-7=9) with the Crunch from Oct. 16-30.
Selected by San Jose in the sixth round (173rd overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Bonino was acquired by Anaheim with Timo Pielmeier in exchange for Kent Huskins and Travis Moen on Mar. 4, 2009. He has appeared in 35 career NHL games, scoring 1-1=2 points with 10 penalty minutes.
