Hinds WJC Gold

Ducks prospects Olen Zellweger, Nathan Gaucher and Tyson Hinds helped Canada capture gold at the 2023 World Junior Championship Thursday night at Scotbiabank Centre in Halifax.

Team Canada avenged its only loss of the tournament and repeated as World Juniors champions for the first time since 2009.

Canada led 2-0 heading to the third period but a late surge by the Czechs forced overtime, which Coyotes prospect Dylan Guenther ended on a 2-on-1 rush.

Zellweger played a game-high 27:54 in the victory. He and Gaucher are among 10 Canadian players to win two titles in less than six months as members of the 2021 team that captured gold at the postponed tournament in August.
Tournament Totals
