Anaheim Ducks players and their significant others announced today that they will donate 200 meals per day to UCI Medical Center. Local restaurants still operating and staffing employees will be used for the donations. Deliveries will begin next week and continue based on ongoing needs and discussions with the staff at UCI.
Following is a statement from the players and their significant others:
"We are extremely proud of how our community has come together during these difficult days. We would like to follow in the footsteps of our ownership, Henry and Susan Samueli, who have once again shown their leadership and dedication to making a positive impact by taking care of their part-time staff. As a team, along with our significant others, we would like to recognize the amazing, brave staff at UCI Medical Center by sending them on-going deliveries of catered meals to fuel and support them as they face daily risks to help others in need. Similarly, we would like to assist several local restaurants that are doing their best to continue to operate and employ their staffs during this unprecedented time.
"As we plan with UCI to ensure we support as many frontline workers as we can, we would like to thank and applaud the courageous men and women of the UCI Health staff, and all of the healthcare workers across the country and beyond. We can't wait to see you in person and express our gratitude for your life-saving efforts and your willingness to face this incredible challenge head-on. In the meantime, we send our best wishes of good health to all of you."
