The Ducks have partnered for a third straight year with Smart & Final Southern California stores for a donation drive benefiting the We Give Thanks. Ducks fans are encouraged to visit Southern California Smart & Final locations anytime until Nov. 20 to assist in the effort. For each turkey purchased for the annual We Give Thanks dinner on Thanksgiving Day, Smart & Final will award customers with a voucher good for two (2) Terrace Value tickets to select Anaheim Ducks home games in the month of December.
“We are pleased to join forces with Smart & Final for a third straight season in assisting We Give Thanks,” said Ducks Vice President of Multi-Media and Community Development Aaron Teats. “This ticket promotion brings the community together to help feed up to 20,000 locals in need for this special holiday.”
Smart & Final has 140 participating locations across Southern California. Ducks fans can purchase a turkey voucher from any cash register at a local Smart & Final store for $16.77, the equivalent of a 13-pound turkey ($1.29 per pound). With hopes to reach a donation of at least 300 turkeys, Ducks fans can purchase vouchers up until Sunday, Nov. 20. Smart & Final will then deliver the equivalent amount of turkeys to the We Give Thanks Foundation. An expected crowd of nearly 20,000 people will have the opportunity to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal with members of the community, free of charge in the Honda Center parking lot.
“Frank Garcia, We Give Thanks and the Anaheim Ducks continue to amaze us with their generosity and dedication to helping the less fortunate in Orange County,” said Randall Oliver, Director of Corporate Communications for Smart & Final. “They are ideal partners for Smart & Final's community outreach efforts.”
As a reward, each Smart & Final customer that makes a turkey donation will be presented with a ticket voucher for two (2) Terrace Value tickets to a select upcoming Anaheim Ducks game. The voucher can be redeemed at the Honda Center Box Office. Each customer will have the option of choosing from one of three Ducks games: Dec. 4 vs. Minnesota, Dec. 14 vs. Phoenix, or Dec. 31 vs. Colorado.
“I can’t believe how big the We Give Thanks Thanksgiving Dinner has become since we came to Honda Center six years ago,” said Frank Garcia, Founder of We Give Thanks. “I feel so blessed to be supported by two incredible organizations like Smart & Final and the Ducks, and together, I hope to provide a meal to anyone who needs one on Thanksgiving Day.”
We Give Thanks is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization founded 24 years ago by Garcia. Its mission is to serve Thanksgiving meals to persons in need throughout Orange County. Last year, the We Give Thanks event fed more than 18,000 individuals on Thanksgiving Day. Honda Center will host the event for the sixth consecutive year. The event is scheduled for Thursday, November 24 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
