Ducks, OC Register Holding 'Oh Say Can You Sing' Contest

The Anaheim Ducks and Orange County Register have launched their second annual “Oh, Say Can You Sing?” contest, which runs through March 14 at The first of five auditions at Honda Center will be held tonight as the Ducks host the Detroit Red Wings beginning at 7:05 p.m.

“The Anaheim Ducks are pleased to partner Orange County Register once again on the second annual ‘Oh, Say Can You Sing?’ contest,” said Ducks Director of Corporate Partnerships Wendy Grover. “The inaugural event in 2009 drew a tremendous response from Ducks fans and Orange County Register readers and we wish all contestants the best of luck.”

Participants are invited to submit a 30-second video singing a song of their choice. The general public is invited to vote on their favorite submission through the site as often as they wish, with up to 10 votes accepted per minute. Contestants may also enter the video contest during Anaheim Ducks’ home games by visiting the Register booth on the Plaza Level near Section 219 during the following dates:

•    Wednesday, Feb. 3 – Ducks vs. Detroit Red Wings – 7:05 p.m.
•    Monday, Feb. 8 – Ducks vs. Los Angeles Kings  –  7:05 p.m.
•    Wednesday, Feb. 10 – Ducks vs. Edmonton Oilers  –  7:05 p.m.
•    Tuesday, March 9 – Ducks vs. Columbus Blue Jackets  –  7:05 p.m.
•    Friday, March 12 – Ducks vs. Nashville Predators  –  7:05 p.m.

Five singers who receive the most votes will join five other finalists selected by a group of expert judges. The ten finalists will perform before a Ducks Entertainment Group judges' panel as part of second-round auditions at Honda Center on March 18, where the Grand Prize winner will be selected.

The Grand Prize winner will win a trip for two to Edmonton, Alberta to watch the Ducks play the Edmonton Oilers on March 26, courtesy of Travel Alberta. In addition, the winner will sing the National Anthem at the Anaheim Ducks Fan Appreciation Night on April 11, and receive two tickets to watch the Ducks-Oilers in the 2009-10 regular season finale at Honda Center.

Promotion for the contest includes advertisements in the Register's print and online products, in-stadium signage at the Register booth at Honda Center, e-mail blasts and on-air mentions on Go Country 105.1 FM.
