Ducks Notes Through January 25

RECENTLY: The Ducks enter the All-Star break having earned points in nine of the last 10 games (8-1-1)…the club has won five of the last six games, outscoring its opponents 20-7…the Ducks have posted an 8-2-1 record in January, scoring 37 goals in 11 games (3.36 goals-per-game), the second-highest goals-per-game average in the NHL (Boston, 3.83)...over the last 15 contests, the Ducks have allowed just four power play goals, stopping 35 of the last 39 attempts (89.7%)...on the power play, the Ducks have converted five of their last 15 attempts (33.3%) in the last six games…the Ducks have also earned points in five of their last six road games, going 3-1-2 for 11 points...the Ducks return to action Tuesday @ Phoenix (6 p.m. PST,  PRIME TICKET/AM 830).

PERRY'S ALL-STAR WEEKEND: Corey Perry, the 2010-11 Hart Trophy winner, will make his third career All-Star appearance (also 2008 & 2011) this weekend in Ottawa...Perry has scored a team-leading 22 goals and ranks second on the Ducks in points with 22-17=39 in 48 games...Perry, who recorded his fourth career hat trick on Jan. 8 vs. Columbus, has scored four goals in the last six games (4-0=4), eight goals in his last 11 games (8-2=10, +6), and has 16-12=28 points over the last addition, Perry ranks tied for third among NHL leaders in PPG (10) and tied for 10th in goals.

HILLER'S HOT STREAK: Over the last seven games (5-1-1), Jonas Hiller has stopped 186-of-195 shots for a .954 SV% and a 1.29 GAA (9 GA/420 MIN), winning five of the last six contests...he recorded his 13th career shutout (second of season) and 100th career win in a 5-0 victory on Jan. 13 at Hiller's last nine outings, he has posted a 6-1-1 record (one ND) with a 1.44 GAA (12 GA/499 MIN) and .946 SV% (212-of-224).


- Teemu Selanne grabbed sole possession of 44th place in all-time assists (733, passing Rod Brind’Amour) with one helper on Jan. 22 vs. Ottawa…he is one assist shy of matching Bernie Nicholls at 43rd in all-time assists and six points shy of sharing 21st in all-time points with Brett Hull (1,391)…he has scored 4-5=9 points with a +7 rating over the last 10 games and leads the Ducks with 15-30=45 points this season, averaging .94 points-per-game.
- Ryan Getzlaf has scored 2-7=9 points in 10 games and 4-21=25 points over his last 31...within that 10-game stretch, he netted his sixth career four-plus assist night on Jan. 13 at Edmonton (0-4=4).
- Bobby Ryan has scored 6-4=10 points in the last 10 contests, including points in four of the last six (4-2=6)...Ryan also has 9-5=14 points in the last 14 games.
- Francois Beauchemin, who signed a three-year contract extension through the 2014-15 NHL season on Jan. 20, has picked up 2-5=7 points over the last nine games and owns a team-best +10 rating in the last 10 contests...he is currently on pace for 31 points this season, his highest output since scoring 35 in 2005-06 with Anaheim and Columbus...Beauchemin currently ranks eighth in the NHL in avg. TOI (25:48)...he had a franchise-record (also career high) nine blocked shots Jan. 21 vs. Ottawa (previous club record was 7, set several times).
- Lubomir Visnovsky has points in three of four games (1-3=4) and 3-9=12 points over the last 16 games, while Luca Sbisa has scored 2-6=8 points in the last 15 games.
- In the last seven games, Saku Koivu has scored 4-4=8 points…he has 4-7=11 points with a +8 rating in his 12 games since returning from a groin injury (missed eight games from Dec. 10-29)...Koivu has registered a team-leading +12 rating this season.
- Jason Blake scored 2-1=3 points in a 4-2 win Jan. 15 at Vancouver, marking his first three-plus point game since Mar. 31, 2010 at Colorado (1-4=5)...Blake will enter Tuesday’s contest with 4-2=6 points with a +4 rating in the last six contests.

A NEW BEGINNING IN ANAHEIM: Named the eighth head coach of the Anaheim Ducks on Nov. 30, Bruce Boudreau enters Tuesday’s game with an NHL coaching record of 212-98-43 in 353 career games (.661 win%)...he secured his first win as head coach of the Ducks on Dec. 6 in a 3-2 victory over Los Angeles and has an 11-9-3 record in 23 games with Anaheim...the Washington Capitals head coach from 2007-11, Boudreau won the 2007-08 Jack Adams award (NHL Coach of the Year) and led his club to the 2009-10 Presidents’ Trophy as the NHL’s top club in the regular season.

PROSPECT WATCH:  Defenseman Justin Schultz ranks fifth among all NCAA Division I players in scoring and tied for third in assists with 12-25=37 points in 24 contests...Schultz, a junior playing for the Wisconsin Badgers, is the only defenseman ranked in the top 25 among all NCAA scorers this season...Schultz leads Wisconsin in goals, co-leads in power play goals (5), and ranks second in points and assists...the second-round selection (48th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft has 104 career points with Wisconsin, becoming the first Badger defenseman to collect at least 100 since Brian Rafalski did so in 1994-95…in the WHL, right wing Emerson Etem has scored 41-31=72 points in 42 games with Medicine Hat, ranking second among league leaders in goals, fifth in points, first in shorthanded goals (8), and first in game-winning goals (8)…Emerson currently has a career-high 10-game goal streak (13-1=14), the WHL’s longest goal-scoring streak this season…with Syracuse, right wing Kyle Palmieri ranks tied for second in the AHL in goals, despite playing 18 fewer games than league leader Cory Conacher (Norfolk, 24 goals)…Palmieri, who has netted 23-10=33 points in 24 games with the Crunch, also ranks second in the league in game-winning goals (5) and tied for sixth in plus/minus (+15)…named to the AHL Eastern Conference All-Star team on Jan. 4, Palmieri leads the Crunch in goals and ranks second in scoring...left wing Patrick Maroon ranks sixth in AHL scoring and seventh in goals with 20-25=45 points in 39 games…among team leaders, Maroon leads in points, assists and power play goals…center Peter Holland ranks third on the Crunch in goals and scoring (13-18=31) in 36 games…Holland, who has 9-16=25 points in his last 24 contests, ranks seventh among AHL rookies in goals and is eighth in points…in the OHL, Rickard Rakell has scored 22-23=45 points with a +10 rating in 39 games with Plymouth.
