Ducks Ink Forwards Green & Boguniecki

A veteran of 322 career NHL games (most recently with Vancouver in 2006-07), left wing Josh Green spent 2007-08 in Austria where he scored 42 points in 43 games for Salzburg EC.

The Ducks announced on Tuesday that they have signed left wing Josh Green and center Eric Boguniecki to one-year contracts. Per club policy, no financial terms of the deals were disclosed.

Green, 30 (11/16/77), a veteran of 322 career NHL games, most recently played for the Vancouver Canucks in 2006-07, collecting 2-5=7 points in 57 contests. The 6-3, 215-pound winger has earned 35-39=74 career NHL points with 193 penalty minutes (PIM). Green established career highs in goals, assists and points in 1999-00 with the New York Islanders, scoring 12-14=26 points in 49 contests. A native of Camrose, Alberta, Green has also played in 12 Stanley Cup Playoff contests with Edmonton and Vancouver. He reached the Western Conference Semifinals with the Canucks in 2007, appearing in nine contests while recording one assist and 12 PIM.  Green played in 43 games for Salzburg EC of the Austrian League in 2007-08, earning 20-22=42 points with 100 PIM.

After scoring 18 points in 16 games for ERC Ingolstadt in Germany during 2007-08, center Eric Boguniecki returns to North America where he is a veteran of 178 career NHL contests (most recently with the New York Islanders in 2006-07).

Originally selected in the second round by Los Angeles (30th overall) in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, Green has appeared in 184 career American Hockey League (AHL) contests, recording 57-69=126 points with 201 PIM. He established AHL career highs in almost all categories in 2004-05, earning 21-19=40 points with 72 PIM in 67 games with the Manitoba Moose.

Boguniecki, 33 (5/6/75), has appeared in 178 career NHL contests with Florida, St. Louis, Pittsburgh and the New York Islanders, earning 34-42=76 points with 105 PIM and a +14 rating. The 5-8, 192-pound center established career high marks in goals, assists, points, games played and plus/minus in 2002-03 after recording 22-27=49 points in 80 contests with the Blues. The New Haven, CT, native has also appeared in nine Stanley Cup Playoff contests (all with St. Louis), earning 1-3=4 points with four PIM. Boguniecki played for ERC Ingolstadt of the German League in 2007-08, collecting 4-14=18 points with 24 PIM in 16 contests.

Originally selected in the eighth round (193rd overall) by St. Louis in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft, Boguniecki has appeared in 282 career AHL contests, collecting 137-173=310 points with 591 PIM. He has averaged 1.1 points-per-game in his AHL career. Boguniecki was awarded the Les Cunningham Award as the AHL’s most valuable player for the 2001-02 season after finishing tied for first among league leaders in goals (38) and second in points (84). The centerman also played four years of college hockey at the University of New Hampshire (Hockey East), earning Second All-Star Team honors for the 1996-97 season.
