The Ducks have acquired left wing Brock McGinn and a 2024 third-round selection in the NHL Draft from the Pittsburgh Penguins for defenseman Dmitry Kulikov. In addition, Anaheim retained 50 percent of Kulikov's salary in the transaction.

"Brock brings a gritty and hard-working style of play that will fit well with our forwards," said Ducks General Manager Pat Verbeek. "We look forward to him joining our group and thank Dmitry for his contributions to our hockey club this season."
McGinn, 29 (2/2/94), has scored 10-6=16 points with 21 penalty minutes (PIM) in 60 games with the Penguins this season. In 469 career games with Pittsburgh (2021-present) and Carolina (2015-21), McGinn has earned 73-71=144 points with 116 PIM. He set single-season NHL career highs in points (16-14=30) and goals in 2017-18, and assists (16) and appearances (82) in 2018-19 with the Hurricanes. The 6-0, 187-pound forward has also scored 7-7=14 points in 41 career Stanley Cup Playoff games with Pittsburgh and Carolina.
Signed by Pittsburgh to a four-year contract through the 2024-25 NHL season July 28, 2021, McGinn also tallied 39-31=70 points in 134 career American Hockey League games with the Charlotte Checkers. Originally selected by Carolina in the second round (47th overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft, the Fergus, Ontario native spent four seasons with the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) from 2010-14, registering 93-79=172 points with a +54 rating in 227 games. He helped Guelph to an OHL championship in 2013-14, scoring 12 points in 12 postseason games (6-6=12).
Kulikov, 32 (10/29/90), recorded 3-12=15 points with 30 PIM in 61 games with Anaheim this season. The 6-1, 201-pound defenseman led Anaheim in blocked shots (103), ranked tied for second in hits (87) and was third in time on ice per game (20:13).
Acquired from Minnesota for future considerations Aug. 31, 2022, Kulikov has appeared in 866 career NHL games with Anaheim, Minnesota, Edmonton, New Jersey, Winnipeg, Buffalo and Florida, recording 45-168=213 points with 524 PIM. A native of Lipetsk, Russia, Kulikov has appeared in 29 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, recording 1-7=8 points.
