The Ducks have acquired a 2021 fifth-round draft pick from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for defenseman Erik Gudbranson.
"We want to thank Erik," said Ducks Executive Vice President & General Manager Bob Murray. "He did a good job for us. He's a character player and will do well in Ottawa. For us, this was about having additional financial flexibility going forward. We will continue to aggressively look at ways to improve our team, both in the short and long term."
Gudbranson, 28 (1/7/92), has played in 518 career games with the Ducks, Florida Panthers, Vancouver Canucks and Pittsburgh Penguins, earning 20-53=73 points and 581 penalty minutes (PIM). Acquired from the Penguins in exchange for Andreas Martinsen and a seventh-round selection in the 2021 NHL Draft, Oct. 25, 2019, Gudbranson had 4-5=9 points and 91 PIM in 44 games with Anaheim in 2019-20. The 6-5, 217-pound defenseman began last season with Pittsburgh, going scoreless in seven games.

A native of Ottawa, Ontario, Gudbranson was selected by Florida in the first round (third overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft.
