Ducks Acquire Defenseman O'Donnell

ANAHEIM, Calif. - The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired defenseman Sean O'Donnell from the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for center Joel Perrault.

O'Donnell, 34 (10/31/71), has appeared in 57 games with Phoenix this season, scoring 1-7=8 points with a +3 rating and 121 penalty minutes. The Ottawa, Ontario native has played in 750 career NHL games, earning 22-126=148 points with 1,356 penalty minutes. The 6-3, 227-pound blueliner has a +48 rating in the last four NHL campaigns and has been a "plus" or "even" player in each of the last eight NHL seasons.

An 11-year NHL veteran, O'Donnell has played in 80-or-more games in six of the previous seven NHL seasons (played 70 in 2002-03). He was originally drafted by Buffalo in the sixth round (123rd overall) of the 1991 NHL Entry Draft.

Perrault, 23 (4/6/83), has played 25 games with Portland of the American Hockey League this season, earning 12-12=24 points with 20 penalty minutes. He was drafted by Anaheim in the fifth round (137th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
