by Staff Writer / Anaheim Ducks
ANAHEIM, Calif. - The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired a third-round selection in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft from the New York Rangers in exchange for defenseman Sandis Ozolinsh.

The third-round selection was originally San Jose’s pick that was acquired by the Rangers on March 8, 2006 for Ville Nieminen.

Originally drafted by San Jose in the second-round (30th overall) of the 1991 NHL Entry Draft, Ozolinsh was acquired from Florida with Lance Ward in exchange for Matt Cullen, Pavel Trnka and a 2003 fourth-round draft choice on Jan. 30, 2003. In 13 NHL seasons, he has played in 796 career NHL games, recording 161-370=531 points.
