The Anaheim Ducks and CHOC Children’s have partnered together for a special family night dedicated to raising funds for the hospital on Sunday, March 14 when the Ducks host the San Jose Sharks at Honda Center (5:05 p.m.).
For the first time in NHL history, all of the dasher boards (44 in all at Honda Center) will be donated to CHOC for the evening. Each of the Ducks’ dasher board corporate partners have joined the cause: AAA, CenSource, Nusign, Hilton Anaheim, Citizens Business Bank, Del Taco, freecreditreport.com, Honda, Jack Daniels, Lucas Oil, Miller Lite, The National Hockey League (NHL), The Orange County Register, Pepsi, PRIME TICKET, San Manuel Indian Bingo and Casino, State Farm, Time Warner Cable, Toyo Tires, and Travel Alberta. In addition, the game will mark the start of the “Pepsi Refresh Saves for CHOC” program, where Pepsi Refresh will make a donation to CHOC for each save made throughout the remainder of the season.
“We are extremely pleased to be part of this unique and special night,” said Ducks Senior Vice President/Chief Marketing Officer Bob Wagner. “We are very grateful to our terrific partners for contributing to this great cause and lending signage that highlights CHOC.”
Patients from CHOC will also participate in the night’s events, including serving as intermission Zamboni riders and as Honorary Ducks. Mia Maffei, a member of CHOC Follies, one of Orange County’s most original and successful charity events, will perform the national anthem. Following the anthem presentation, Ducks Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer Tim Ryan and CHOC COO Debra Mathias will participate in the ceremonial puck drop.
Community members can support CHOC Night at Honda Center in a variety of ways. Discounted tickets can be purchased online at www.choc.com/chocnight/ or by calling the CHOC Children’s Foundation at (714) 532-8690. CHOC Night is the only time Ducks and CHOC supporters will have an opportunity to purchase, for $60, limited edition Herrington CHOCO bears donning Ducks jerseys signed by Anaheim players. Proceeds from the sales of game tickets and bears will support the CHOC Children’s Orthopaedic Institute.
Additionally, anyone can make a $5 donation to CHOC by texting CHOC to 90999. Attendees at CHOC Night who participate in the texting or stop by the CHOC table to make a minimum cash donation of $5 will be eligible for special Ducks prizes. The Ducks and CHOC partnership also includes a Ducks-themed wing on the oncology floor of the hospital and a Ducks-branded van that will travel to local high schools, assisting sports teams with injury prevention practices.About CHOC
