ANAHEIM - The good vibes kindled two nights ago by rookie goaltender Kevin Boyle and Bob Murray's debut behind the Anaheim bench didn't carry over tonight against Boston at Honda Center.

The Ducks couldn't manage to generate much offensively in a 3-0 defeat to the Bruins that gave the Ducks losses in eight of their last nine and 20 of the last 23. Anaheim scored only once in snapping a seven-game skid Wednesday night vs. Vancouver, when Boyle came up big with a 35-save blanking of the Canucks in the 26-year-old's first NHL start.
Tonight, it was Boston's Jaroslav Halak who stopped every puck he saw, stifling Anaheim with a 30-save shutout.
"It's unfortunate we're not scoring goals," Ducks defenseman Josh Manson said. "You need to score goals in this league to win games. You can't expect to shut teams out every night. It's unfortunate, but we know we have to score. It doesn't change anything for us."
Boyle played well, but his shutout streak ended five and a half minutes into this one when Brandon Carlo's slap shot from the wing was tipped through by Noel Acciari to make it 1-0 Bruins.
A Ducks penalty less than five minutes into the second opened the gates to Boston's second unanswered, as Boyle was pulled out of his crease attempting a poke check, leaving the net wide open for Jake DeBrusk to push the puck over the stripe.
Boston put the game away with a minute and a half left when former Duck Chris Wagner filled the empty net from the Anaheim blue line.
"We had our chances," Murray said. "It was a pretty even hockey game. They buried their chances, and we didn't bury ours. The team played very well. We stuck with the system, so we didn't give up a lot. We just need to create something around their net. We need to do more around their net."
The Ducks are back at it Sunday evening vs. Washington, which will be Scott Niedermayer Jersey Retirement Night at Honda Center. Fans are urged to be in their seats by 4 p.m. for the pregame ceremony.
