Ducks winger Matt Beleskey
is out 2-4 weeks with an upper-body injury, and defenseman Sami Vatanen
is out 4-6 weeks with a lower-body injury, the team announced today.
Both injuries were suffered in the first period of Sunday night's 5-3 defeat to the Washington Capitals at Honda Center.
The 26-year-old Beleskey has a career-high 21 goals in 56 games with the Ducks this season, including an NHL-best eight game-winning goals.
The 23-year-old Vatanen has 12 goals and 22 assists in 57 games games this season. His 34 points lead all Ducks defensemen and rank him fourth on the team overall.
In their stead, the Ducks have recalled left wing Emerson Etem and defenseman Josh Manson from the Norfolk Admirals, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Etem, 22 (6/16/92), has scored 2-4=6 points with four penalty minutes (PIM) in 27 games with the Ducks this season. Selected by Anaheim in the first round (29th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Etem has recorded 1-4=5 points in his last 10 NHL games dating to Nov. 15. The 6-1, 212-pound forward also earned 13-8=21 points with two PIM in 22 AHL games with Norfolk in 2014-15. At the time of his recall, Etem co-led the Admirals in goals, led in power-play goals (6) and ranked fourth in scoring.
Manson, 23 (10/7/91), has collected one assist (0-1=1) with an even plus/minus rating and 25 PIM in 18 games with the Ducks this season. Making his NHL debut on Oct. 31 at Dallas, Manson earned his first career NHL point (assist) with a career-high +2 rating on Nov. 16 vs. Florida. Selected in the sixth round (160th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Manson posted 3-6=9 points with 23 PIM in 23 games with Norfolk this season.
