Ducks defenseman Francois Beauchemin
underwent anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstructive surgery on his right knee on Thursday. The surgery was performed by Dr. Ronald Glousman at the Kerlan-Jobe Center in Los Angeles.
Beauchemin is expected to make a full recovery and is hopeful to return in time for the start of the 2013-14 season.
Beauchemin led club defensemen with 6-18=24 points in 48 games during the 2012-13 regular season. His .50 points-per-game average matched his career high of .50 in 2005-06. In addition, his career-best +19 rating ranked tied for 11th in the NHL and co-led the Ducks (Souray). He recorded 1-11=12 points (+11) in February, co-leading all NHL blueliners (also PIT’s Martin & DET’s Kronwall), and averaged 23:27 TOI this season, leading the Ducks. Beauchemin also led the team in TOI in 38 of 48 games.
