2016-17 Player Review: Jared Boll

Another summer is upon us, which means another round of player reviews. AnaheimDucks.com will feature a different Ducks player throughout the summer (in numerical order), highlighting key stats while also keeping an eye on next season. Next up is right wing Jared Boll.

The 2016-17 campaign marked Boll's 10th NHL season, and his first with Anaheim after the veteran heavyweight spent the previous nine with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Known for his willingness to drop the gloves, the 31-year-old right wing led the Ducks with 15 fighting majors and paced the club with 87 penalty minutes.
Boll finished the season with three points (all assists), 14 blocked shots and 68 hits, and earned a plus-or-even rating in 42 of his 51 appearances. His first point as a Duck occurred on October 20 at Philadelphia when he recorded the primary assist on Chris Wagner's goal in the opening period. The Ducks would go on to win the game, giving them their first victory of the season after going 0-3-1 over the previous four.

He would connect with Wagner once more on March 10 at St. Louis, when the duo finished off a slick give-and-go. Realizing he had Blues goaltender Jake Allen thinking shot all the way, Boll swiftly gave it right back to Wagner, who had a wide-open net. Though the puck caromed off Wagner's skate, the goal stood, giving the Ducks a 2-1 lead in an eventual 4-3 defeat.

Boll made his third trip to the Stanley Cup Playoffs in April, and his first appearance since 2014. He appeared in eight of 17 games for the Ducks, including all six against the Nashville Predators in the Western Conference Final.
