Zubrus improving

Dainius Zubrus says his knee has felt better every day since he returned to skating with the team on Wednesday.

But it’s not likely that he’ll be ready to play Saturday when the Devils visit the Island.

“That’s not really in the plans right now,” said the 6-5 center, who was set to miss his 29th game on Friday. He has been sidelined with a leg injury since blocking a shot at Nashville on Nov. 19.

“I think we set kind of small targets. We’ll see how I feel two, three days from now and go from there,” he said.

Zubrus indicated he’s feeling some soreness and stiffness, adding: “That’s expected.”

“Every day is getting better and I’m doing treatment still and that’s not going to stop. But it’s one day closer to you seeing me out there running around.”
